A Fractured Leg @ 27 M/O

Every day is an exciting day w/Preston Lee. But this evening was the winner of all others!! Preston Lee fractured his leg!!

And this is how the evening started.....As most of you know Lisa & Heath are moving. Being the great friends Justin & I are :) we thought we'd help them with a few things this evening. So Justin was helping Heath paint a room in the house they're moving into & I was helping Lisa pack her living & dining room. Preston Lee of course was outside w/all the kids playing. Andy & Syd were skateboarding.....Matt & R.J. founded an empty beer can in the road & were hitting it w/a bat, hehe....and little Preston Lee & princess Meagan were riding scooters. I was coming in & out of the house loading boxes into Lisa's Expedition, everything and everyone was fine. Then I hear my son's cry. Sydney is helping him into the house & Preston is crying harder than I think he cried when he got his immunization shots. Yes that bad! His little chin was quivering, which never does when he cries & he kept telling me "I hurt Mommy, scooter". I started looking him over, head to toe. No scrapes, no bruises, no blood, no vomit.....what the heck???? So I stood him up & that's when I realized the pain was in one of his legs or feet. He was still crying hysterically, which is NOT like him at all. Lisa knows how much he LOVES bubble gum so she offered him a piece hoping to help calm him down. That didn't do the trick either, so I knew something was really wrong. I was trying to gently move his legs/feet to try & figure out what was wrong. I honestly didn't think he had a broken bone though. I told Lisa "he NEVER cries this long over anything I'm taking him to the hospital". I went & got Justin & off we went to Chadron to find out that Preston Lee has a hairline fractured tibia. Preston was an angel at the e.r. He even laughed while they were taking his x-rays. Preston likes the cartoon Caillou & there is an episode that we have recorded where Caillou's friend goes to the hospital b/c he hurt his foot & he gets a picture of his foot taken to find out that he has a broken foot. So Preston knew exactly what was going on, we talked about the Caillow episode while waiting on the Doc. & the x-ray tech. Nothing was a surprise to him....Preston knew they were going to take a picture of his leg. He was cool as a cucumber through the entire experience, except when they has him to put weight on his leg. I'm so proud of him!

Soooooo.....they put a temporary cast (splint) on his right lower leg & the e.r. doc. is consulting w/the radiologist & a pediatric orthopedic doc. from Rapid in the morning. The doc. from Chadron should be calling us tomorrow afternoon to let us know if they want to cast him, etc. 99.9% chance is they will....of course. So for now Preston Lee has to be immobilized from his right leg. Yeah that's what I thought too........GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so dreading the morning b/c I know his little leg is going to be so sore & stiff and he is not going to like not being able walk. So I guess tomorrow everything I do or he does I will be carrying him. Yes we will be at home!

The Scentsy Party for tomorrow night (Friday) at my house is being rescheduled. Preston Lee is going to need Mommy's undivided attention for a while. Lisa & I are working on getting a hold of everyone to let them know. As soon as I reschedule I'll let you all know, k.

I'll post more tomorrow if I can. Goodnight everyone & remember little Preston Lee in your prayers I know he's going to need it.

aww poor preston! I broke mine when I was just a little younger then preston...they told my momma no walking either, but they couldn't stop me. They even set the cast to where they thought it would be impossible for me to walk...well every week we had to go in for a new one cause I'd wear the heel out of it. I'm sure Preston will be up running around before you know it. Give him a big hug and kiss for me :)
