A Bike Ride To Fort Rob.....

This morning I woke up with what I thought was a bright idea of taking a bike ride on the trail out to Fort Robinson. From here to Fort Rob it's about 3 miles, by trail I believe it's closer to 4 if I'm not mistaking. I've done this bike ride several times before & have always enjoyed it, it's a great workout! It's not too far, but far enough when riding on a trail made of gravel. So I get the bike trailer hooked up, oh-yes both kiddos have to go too b/c Daddy's at work. I get the trailer hooked up, put Addison's car seat in, Preston gets all sqwished in, we've got our water with us, we're sunscreened up, and we're off! I get onto the trail down by the park & I'm thinking what on earth is going on here, I can't hardly peddle, and I'm only in 1st gear!! Yes the trail is tiny gravel, but that didn't matter last summer, or the summer before. So I get off my bike, check all the tires, they're fine, so I get back on. Off we go again, but still in 1st and major resistance. It only took about another 10 reps of turning those bike peddles when it hit me like a rock!!

1. This ol' gal aint what she used to be! My extra pounds isn't making this any easier!
2. Preston Lee now weighs 42lbs!
3. I also have the xtra weight of Addison & her carseat, probably about 15lbs right there!
4. And of course the weight of the bike trailer!

So this ride is going to take me a liiiiiittle longer than what it use to, it didn't matter, I was going to do it. Preston saying "please Mom, you can do it" did give me some encouragement. Well guess what, we made it! I made 3 brief stops to drink some water & to catch my breath. Addison was a trooper, she didn't fuss at all, and Preston kept hollering to me updates on a butterfly that was flying along beside us. As we turned the corner off the gravel and onto the pavement at Fort Rob Preston says "I knew you could do it Mom" Thank you Preston Lee!Preston played at the park while Addi & I sat under a shade tree and watched. We made a stop at the activity center so Preston could enjoy an ice cream while I fueled up on some nachos with cheese :) We then got back on the trail and headed home. It was also only about 10 reps of turning the bicycle peddles when I glanced back & Preston Lee & Addison are sound asleep. I just smiled, then prayed my tired legs would get us home! And they did. I didn't stop once coming back home. There is a little bit of a decline coming back and that does help.

WoooWeee.......NEVER again, that's what I say today.....we'll see ")
