POST-OP

As most have heard, little Addison ended up needing surgery for severe acid reflux. We were transferred back here to Denver on Friday & she went through surgery this morning. All went VERY well. She is still on a ventilator (ventilated b/c babies her size do not typically breath on their own after being under anesthesia), she just had a dose of morphine, still has an I.V. and all incisions look great.
She had a Nissen Fundoplication & a Gastrostomy Tube. The Nissen Fundoplication is basically where the surgeon takes part of the fundus (the upper part of the stomach)and surgically (with a laproscope) wraps it around the esophageal sphincter, to tighten the sphincter so that the reflux does not occur, at all. The G-Tube was put in so that we can feed Addison. Addison is going to need some time to allow her Esophagus to heal from the damage of the refluxing. After she begins to eat on her own we will only use the g-tube for the remainder of her feedings. She will still be able to nurse & bottle feed.
I thought I'd be a train wreck right now, but actually I'm holding up very well. I'm so relieved to know that we are FINALLY coming to an end of Addison living at the hospital. Thanks everyone for all your thoughts & prayers, they have helped more than you can imagine. Here are a few pics. and I will keep you all posted, the best that I can ;)
